The saying "When in Rome do as the Romans" just does not apply to British people. Take TV programmes like "A place in the sun" and some such like. There they go to Spain or Italy or Greece or whatever and they expect everyone they meet to speak English!! I've never seen anyone in any of those programmes trying to speak the language of the country they went to and yet they expect foreigners coming here to speak English!

Thank you for agreeing with me.

I know the feeling I used to work in an HR department and felt the same way, lets all try and make recruiting a bit more personal again.

I tend to agree with you. I have never had a positive experience with employment agencies.

Actually, when I have been involved in recruiting, I have always been very keen to do it myself. I can't think why people think it is such a chore to do recruitment that they want to outsource it. It's very interesting.
