  • NHS not working!!! 8/10/08

    Dear Drama Queens

Here is today’s second post and in this section I will give you some of my opinions about the health system here in the UK. I am sure people are groaning as they read this. Most people would agree that the medical system in this country is lacking in more than one field but let just visit one of the main ones that affect the general population directly.

I am guessing people all over the UK have experienced the issue of waiting an eternity to see a doctor or to get a treatment. Isn’t this the most annoying thing ever? What is the point of paying taxes for a system which is in its core broken? Having done my first degree in the field of medical research I can maybe comment on the medical side too. I am sure people agree with me when I say what is the point of paying taxes for a free medical system which makes you wait so long to get any form of diagnosis or treatment? I have friends who have serious illnesses and the medical system here treats them as if they have a common cold and does not give them priority. Does this make sense? The only excuse that people can come up with for this deficiency is that “well at least it’s free”. Well I ask you is there any point in having a medical system that is so flawed that you need to go private just to get some service?

Many people criticise the USA for having a private medical system, but in essence don’t we have the same here in the UK? How many of you have ended up going private just in order to get some service? The people I feel really sorry for however is the people who don’t have the financial ability to go private. The system was made for them and its not even achieving to serve the people that it was created for. I am not even going to go into the matter of getting below standard treatment from this “free medical system” because as we all know through personal experience and through stories from our loved ones, these instances are plentiful.

I personally think its appalling that you have to wait up to a week or two to see a GP and when you do they misdiagnose you. Even worse some times when you know for a fact that you need a specialist they will not refer you because they think everything can be cured by them or by pain medication. Don’t get me wrong they are providing a relatively valuable service but shouldn’t EGOS be left at the door when it comes to medicine? Also how many people agree with me when I say that the majority of doctors out there on the free medical system have zero or little bedside manner? Is it too much to ask for some civility when you are ill?

Sadly unless people start complaining and stop being complacent this is not going to change, Don’t get me wrong I do not believe the doctors are to blame for being in a flawed system. But maybe with some constructive criticism from us they might improve the system and get it working the way its supposed to.

  • Love and breakups 8/10/08

    Hey there dear Drama Queens

Today’s blog is all about break ups ad how people treat each other during this final stage of most relationships. I know most people out there would have been broken up with someone or have been dumped by someone. So most people will probably be able to relate with what I am about to say.

Has anyone else realised that when a relationship ends usually one of the two parties is left with severe issues. This is usually not due to what was going on during the relationship, although of course there are exceptions to this, but mainly due to the breakup itself. I want you to think back at time when you have had a relationship ended by someone else and think about how that person went about doing it and what latent issues that left in your psyche?

See? That’s exactly what I mean. The relationship might have been good but because the breakup was bad the memory is forever tainted. What’s most ANNOYING is that these issues are then carried into the next relationship. This is when the problems begin; people need to consider that when they break up in a bad manner with someone and they leave them with issues this is always going to be reflected in their future relationships and this is what people commonly call “baggage”. Think about how many people you found attractive and decided to pursue a relationship with them, only to realise that they are “damaged” due to their former relationship and their former break up. Isn’t it annoying? The thing is this situation goes both ways, I am sure people have been in the place of the person with the Baggage as well.

That’s why I implore you all out there reading this to take this into consideration and make the breakup as painless as possible. If not for any other reason as to the next person your ex will date. If this is done by more and more people it will eventually come back to you without knowing it. Someone you might date in the future who could have been damaged by a break up will be baggage free due to the person who broke up with them doing so in a positive manner.

I know most of you will say that there are some people out the that if you don’t do the break up in a bad way then the other person will not get that the relationship is over. In this case I say think back and consider whether you have led this person on. And if you have make sure you give them closure rather than issues and baggage, please if you don’t want to do this for the rest of us, do it for yourself and you future relationships.
